Abstract

Nutritional status is influenced by various factors such as nutrient intake and physical activity. School children often experience various health and nutrition problems, both those related to their nutritional status and those related to eating patterns that will have an impact on their health. This study aims to determine the effect of giving cassava meatballs mixed with tuna fish on macronutrient intake and nutritional status of school children at GMIM Sion Malalayang Elementary School. The type of research used in this study was quantitative research with a research design using a one group pre test and post test design. Sampling using purposive sampling technique. The sample amounted to 37 people. Data were analyzed using the Paired T-test test. The results of the study in GMIM Sion Malalayang elementary school children were good energy intake (54.1%), good protein intake (62.2%), good fat intake (75.7%), good carbohydrate intake (81.1%) and good nutritional status (64.9%). Based on the results of the analysis using the Paired T-test, the p value = 0.000 was obtained on the intake of energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates. This value is smaller than α (0.05) which means that there is an effect of giving tuna cassava meatballs on macronutrient intake and nutritional status.
